The last two weekends have been very busy. Spring has come and there is much to be done. Preparing garden beds, planting, transplanting. The labor done now will hopefully lead to a productive season.
To place the new garden bed first I prepared the area by laying down cardboard to keep the grass from coming through. The garden bed was placed on top of the cardboard and filled with soil. This was a lot of work but well worth it. With the bed prepared our tomatoes had a place to be planted.

This past weekend was spent transplanting peppers and two raspberry bushes. There was a local flower sale so I purchased a flat of flowers and planted those around the house and in some spare garden space. The new garden had some space that I had nothing planned for so I let my children choose what would be planted in that space and they chose Watermelon and Cucumbers. This is a first for watermelon for me so I am not sure how it will go but I will give it a try.

There were a few radishes to pick and an exciting discovery with one of our apple trees. It is looking like this will be the first year the tree will produce some apples. Last year it flowered but nothing more than that so it will be exciting to watch the apples grow this year and a great experience for the children because they both LOVE apples (they did not enjoy the radishes).

There are more productive weekends ahead and I can’t wait to see what other amazing things this year has in store.
